Youth ProgramsPima County Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation facilities are not licensed childcare facilities under section 36-882 of A.R.S. The school-age youth programs are “at will” drop in programs and youth enrolled in the programs may come and go of their own volition. The school-age youth programs are “at will” drop in programs and youth enrolled in the programs may come and go of their own volition. The summer recreation program is for children ages 5-13. 5-year-olds must have completed Kindergarten. Activities include summer reading program, group games, sports, arts and crafts, board and table games, special events, and more. The program is free except for some special events. After School ProgramPima County Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation offers after school recreation programs at several of its community centers. The program will run from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. at most locations. The after school program is for children ages 5-13. 5-year-olds must be enrolled in elementary school. Activities include homework help, reading program, group games, sports, arts and crafts, board and table games, special events, and more. All participants must be registered in the program. Enrollment is limited. Registration is by lottery (computer random selection) except for those centers that are undersubscribed. Applications are available at the centers. Applicants will be notified of their status the week following lottery registration. The program is free except for some special events. Days and times vary by center.
